Few hundred species, of which we offer only a few. All have toxic sap which is harmful if it gets onto your eye or soft skin/mucous membranes. Other than this, Euphorbia in general are easy to grow and very heat tolerant. They like moderate amounts of water and fertiliser to grow well. Generally speaking, they prefer bright light rather than full, hot sun. Many Euphorbia will tolerate indoor light levels as long as they get reasonably bright condiions, like near a window. Keep drier when under lower light than when in outdoors to prevent root rot.
Euphorbia × japonica (often known as Euphorbia 'Cocklebur') is a low-growing dwarf succulent hybrid. It features a chunky, tuberous caudex base with knobby, pine cone-like offset stems. At the tips of these bumpy growths, tufts of narrow green leaves emerge, giving each offset the playful appearance of a miniature pineapple or palm tree.
Growth Form: Compact and slow-growing, reaching only a few inches high but clumping outward over time.
Light & Care: Prefers bright, indirect light to full sun. Requires coarse, well-draining succulent soil and minimal watering (allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings).
